Do you fish alone or with a partner?
The smaller the ice fishing shanty, the more mobile the fishermen.
Light shanties are very mobile, but need to be anchored in windy conditions.
Make sure you have enough headroom while sitting. Some shanties are tall enough to stand in.
Heavy shanties are difficult to transport, but block the wind and retain heat better.
Get a 2-man if your fishing solo. A 3-man tent is generally comfortable for 2 fisherman.
Portable heaters need to work harder in large shanties.
Don’t forget about the added size and weight of all of your gear.
Make sure your new shanty will fit in your vehicle. Many ice fishing shelters will not fit in the truck of a car.
